OUR WORK TODAY The Brooke Hospital for Animals provides a free
veterinary service to improve the
welfare of working equine animals overseas.
Brooke vets are given equine veterinary training to offer appropriate treatment
and
preventative healthcare to reduce the lameness, disease and suffering
common to
many working horses, donkeys and mules.
We work with the local people to help them improve their own husbandry skills and their
animals health through advice, support and education,
and aim to transform the
working lives of their animals and the conditions in which they live.
The Brooke Hospital for Animals has provided free veterinary support for working
horses,
donkeys and mules overseas since 1934. In many parts of the world, these animals are
the only source of income for the whole family. Our mobile veterinary teams treat animals
at their place of work and our clinics offer them rest and rehabilitation.
For so many animals, the veterinary care that is necessary is simply not available.
